A pool company employee was arrested after allegedly breaking into a customer’s home.
Kyle Thomas Acevedo, 26, of Mount Dora, was arrested Wednesday afternoon for breaking and entering, stealing and tampering with evidence at the Pinch A Penny Pool Patio Spa Store at 2251 Citrus Blvd. in Leesburg.
The Lake County Sheriff’s deputies had been called into a house earlier that day Woodside Drive where they were picked up by a caretaker who said she received a call from the homeowner who was out of town. She said the homeowner watched a man walk into his pool area and put some pool treatment chemicals into his pool through a surveillance camera. The man went to the surveillance camera and disconnected it when the image went blank. The homeowner then watched the man enter his garage with a separate surveillance camera. He watched the man take a $ 250 circular saw and get it out of the garage.
The MPs went to the Pinch A Penny store, where they met with the store manager. The manager informed them that the agent assigned to the Woodside Drive account was absent and offered to call him.
When Acevedo arrived, MPs read him Miranda’s warnings before questioning him. Acevedo said he went to the property to service the pool and thought the residence was deserted so he went to the garage to make sure no one was around. When asked to turn off the camera, Acevedo stated that the camera was making a loud noise, so he tried rotating the camera to stop the noise. He eventually admitted that he had brought the circular saw along with a folding chair. The folding chair was in his car and the saw in his house. All items were salvaged and returned to the home owner.
Acevedo was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail. He was released after depositing a $ 8,000 bond.
